He can break people out of it via Tsukuyomi, and just because it can effect a Kage Bushin doesn't mean he can't break out of it. He's the best Genjutsu user in the series.

Shinsu's elemental attacks are blocked via Kakuzu's five elemental jutsu. Itachi can also put them all behind the YM, protecting them from all of its attacks. Due to its size it's easily sealed by the Sakegari and has no protection against it.

Akatsuki takes this high diff suffering a few casualties. Kakuzu has experience fighting Hashirama which would come in handy. Hashi also has experience against MS because of his many battles with Madara. Hashi is a beast but I just don't see him taking on Zetsu, Itachi, Kisame, Deidara, Sasori, Kakuzu, Hidan, Konan, and Pain. That is far too many s-class ninja for even Hashi to handle.
