My Life
Each passing day, I become more and more consumed,
by the cold and lonely dark, caused by my painful wounds,
the day I return to the light, never to come, that I had always assumed,
in my fleeting moments of happiness, the pain of loneliness is resumed.
They all tell me they know my pain, they know how it feels,
but in the end, I know better than anyone, that my scars will never heal,
that they will never know the pain or feelings I experience in my ordeal,
but they do know that my façade of happiness is unreal.
When they try and comfort me, I always ask in a melancholic tone,
‘where were you, when my heart turned to stone?’,
‘where were you, when I turned away from the world?’,
the answer to these questions, are something I have searched for my entire life.
Is my entire life just one of broken promises and the cold dark of loneliness,
for all that has happened over the course of my life, I have become heartless,
my friends are always there for me, though I am happy less and less,
my life is one spent in the lonely darkness, and one I cannot escape.
