Ok guys, don't kill me for trying to bring physics into this, I know it's fiction. But I've been watching the Tobito fight episodes and I just don't get it. It's eventually established that when he turns on his intangibility, his whole body becomes intangible, as seen multiple times when Kakashi and Guy stop Obito from grabbing Naruto by throwing a kunai and using nunchakus, respectively, which makes his arm and body pass right through Naruto.

So far, it's not too complex. But then you have several situations in which, for example, Obito is walking on the ground while remaining intangible. How is this possible? His feet can't push the ground, supposedly.

Another point: He comes up from the ground and halfway out, tries to grab Naruto, which brings TWO big problems.

1) How is he coming up from the ground? How is he pushing himself up? He did the same after the Hachibi hurricane.
2) Even if you try to write that off as Rinnegan aka plot (Pain could fly, even though not really), he shouldn't be able to grab Naruto while halfway up, according to the established logic of him not being able to touch anything while any one part of him is intangible/in the same space as something else.

So yeah. What do you guys think? Plothole?

The bottoms of his feet are touching the blocks in Kamuiland, and he can still walk because Magic, which is why the parts of his body in Kamuiland don't fall down.

Hm, good point. I hadn't thought of that, though I guess that means he's counting on luck that he's not suddenly stepping off the blocks xD

Unfortunately, the 2 points about him being underground still make no sense.

The blocks are earth. His physical body is in kamuiland as his un-solidfied body remains as a ghost.

Haha. For a second there, I thought it was going to be a scan with the proper explanation, but that explanation is probably better than any Kishi-provided one.

which is exactly my point, a ghost wouldn't be able to push itself up and off the ground. A true ghost could just float up, sure, but that's not the case with Obito. He can't fly.

when he activates intangibility , only the parts that overlap with 'solid objects' are teleported . since his feet aren't , he can still stand (or the explanation by cowthulhu for the moving part)

now you may wonder why he's still in shape if that's the case , which is when I'd like to introduce to you :kishi logic

Unless you mean that the blocks actually function as the earth in Kamuiland? Hm, I guess maybe, even though they look pretty solid.

The more I think about it, the more I wish Kishi had made Kamui-land just an exact physical copy of the real world, just in a different dimension, maybe with inverted colors to illustrate. Then, all you guys' explanations would be solid.

Obito can hit ppl with parts in real world while staying intagible.

but for that he has to intentionally make his body stay in real world. it is a passive ability.

In Minato vs Obito fight

now here Obito was purposefully trying to stay in the real world cuz for him to absorb someone he needs to stay in real world, this is why he got hit by a surprise attack.
same case when he tried to grab naruto...he went full intangible cuz there was no other option..his whole body needs to be in real world to absorb...he could have just kept his hand in the real world if he wanted to but do what? ***** slap naruto? lol

Note: yes Obito has absorbed ppl while staying intangible

here , he was partially in ground when he absorbed torune but....that would've made him too OP so kishi nerfed it...

Does he stay intangible? No it was split second sword swings.
running while overlapping a fodder, note the impact on his foot which implies it's pushing the ground (running)
