The Life I Lead
The life I lead is not one I have chosen,
but one that chose me, one that haunts me,
one that has hurt me greatly,
but one that I will not allow to hurt others.
On that fateful day, in the hospital is where it all began,
on that day, a person I loved had departed,
someone I loved very much, to my surprise, would come back to haunt me,
never again was I to be free.
Years later, it wasn't him who hurt me, but another who broke my heart,
that girl, who I treasured and loved, chose to tear my heart apart,
and for that, and him, I hid myself away, never again to love, never again to trust,
I would forever-more be an emotionless husk.
Years after and to this day, I never once tried to be a normal boy,
for I knew that it was a futile effort, to try and mend my wounds,
for they had turned to scars, and to fix them, I never tried and never will,
for the life I lead prevents it, it prevents me from being happy, but it doesn't stop the sadness and loneliness.
