This is the kind of crap that I am talking about. Do you have to constantly be looking at Itachi's eye to be under tsukuyomi? No! So then why would you have to constantly see the moon! If you're going by the logic that killing the jutsu caster ends the jutsu, keep in mind that the moon is not the actual caster of the jutsu. Madara is. The moon is just a surface that was used for reflection.

Even itachi's genjutsu doesn't last forever. He'd need his eyes to reapply it after a while. The alliance would eventually wake up if the moon was destroyed.

Itachi's is not infinite though. This one is! The moon is not the source of its infinite duration! It is the sheer power of the genjutsu that makes it infinite, so people would not wake up and they'd still be wrapped up by the shinju! The moon was only used to cast it on the whole world (so that Madara did not have to go putting people under it one by one).

The series would not be over. They will still get out of it, but it would be by a more logical way like by killing Madara (the actual jutsu caster) or getting one more 6 paths related powerup like the fruit perhaps. Not something that would render the jutsu as pathetic and unworthy of its hype.

No. The manga specifically stated that Hagoromo created the moon on his death bed. Also, the juubi did not turn into the moon. Its body was sealed into the moon by Hagoromo.
