In order for Sasuke to tank the TBB/Rasenshurikens, they'd have to hit the ground too, right? Meaning that they would NEED Sasuke to come down and tank them. I'm pretty sure Naruto would say, "Sasuke, come protect us from my own balls of light that I threw up into the air!"

Why would Naruto throw them up into the air if he knew they'd obliterate the ground where he, Sakura, and Kakashi are standing? Because he didn't - he knows their range, and he knows that they'd never touch the ground given the distance needed for them to destroy the meteorites.

He didn't have to tank them cause he was too fast for them. Naruto may have been avoiding him but he was quick enough to get out of range of the explosions quickly despite being so high up initially to when Naruto began tossing the RS's.
