I just watched the episode where Itachi uses Tsukuyomi on Kakashi again, and good God that scene is done so well! The detail that went into it is fantastic, and the feelings of cruelty and panic are intense. The way Itachi was mercilessly moving the sword around after he stabbed Kakashi, and the way Kakashi was screaming in agony when he was normally so cool really conveyed the seriousness of the situation.
A little later into the scene, when Kakashi has been stabbed hundreds of times (you see one crucifix for every time he was stabbed), you can't help but expect that Kakashi would start begging Itachi, who we all know is really a good character, for mercy and you can tell that he's desperately waiting for the illusion to end. You can't help but admire him when he tells himself to calm down, and judging by the amount of times he's been stabbed, both the viewer and Kakashi think that it'll have to end some time soon.
Then Itachi says "only 71 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds to go" and you can almost feel Kakashi's sense of panic and terror as he realises that he's in hell. He's gone through 1 second of purest torture, and there's 259, 200 seconds in the three days that he's stuck there for. You pretty much feel his shock (to put it lightly) when you see this.
I actually felt sorry for Kakashi when I saw this. Watching this episode again when I know that Itachi is really a good guy had a pretty powerful impact. I've thought this before but I think that Kishi didn't know if he wanted Itachi to be good or evil at that point. There's definitely evidence to support him being good though.
