Sasuke and Naruto fighting to become Hokage, Why?

With the recent powerups Sasuke and Naruto got, why should they compete for the position of Hokage

Seriously, just look at Madara, hes trying to become a dictator of the world


Both Sasuke and Naruto are already close to Madara's strength


So after Madara is defeated, Sasuke and Naruto are gonna compete for the postition of Hokage?


When it is already established that after Madara, Sasuke and Naruto are the strongest


Why should they lower themselves for some measly position when they could just create their own empires


Sasuke can control one half of the world while Naruto the other half


This is one of the main reasons why Naruto and Sasuke defeating Madara is a bad thing because it legitimatizes them as the strongest characters and everyone in NV has to accept that. They have to accept the fact that two pubescent teenagers have the power to wipe them out, thus they have to listen and obey to everything they say

i don't think the fight will happen because of hokage postion , i don't think naruto would be mad if sasuke becomes hokage, i think it involve the bijuu , sasuke may want to destroy them but Naruto will object to that thus the fight happens

And how will they get everyone to cooperate if there is no will guiding them towards a goal that is nonexistent? That's the only reason that someone in the SA hasn't committed genocide on some people in the SA.

And even if they get both halves, that would mean that any misconception wouldn't be between a village or region, but between the entire world.
So pretty much every war is a world war.

I agree that, at this point, the position of Hokage is somewhat pointless, but Naruto and Sasuke simply have to have to have a final showdown.

Kishi has build the entire series around this idea, and since they were first put on the same team, Kishi has been building to this end state. If Naruto and Sasuke don't have a final showdown, it will make the entire series seem anti-climactic. This is not to say that there aren't other possible ending scenarios for the series, but Naruto and Sasuke having a final epic battle is by far the best way to round out the story. Thus, drawing everything full circle.

That said, I don't think they are going to fight over the position of Hokage. There are three primary reasons behind this assumption:

First, the political system of Naruto's world is most likely going to undergo a massive change after the war. The whole point of the hidden village system is to protect the nations' interests from the other nations. However, after recognizing the urgency of the current situation and working together, the village system is going to need to be changed.

Secondly, and probably more importantly, Naruto needs to become Hokage. Like the conflict and final showdown between Naruto and Sasuke, the series is also based around Naruto's singular goal of becoming Hokage. If this does not pan out, the series will kind of feel somewhat hollow.

Finally, Naruto and Sasuke have other motivations for seeking after the position of Hokage. Naruto wants to be Hokage so that he can bring peace to the world, protect his friends, end the cycle of hatred in the world, and be recognized as the greatest shinobi of all time. Sasuke, on the other hand, wants to undo the current system that gave rise to the current situation. Like Naruto, this involves stopping the cycle of hatred and distrust in the world. However, Naruto and Sasuke are very close to already achieving these goals in the defeat of Madara. Naruto has already been recognized as the most powerful shinobi (if it weren't for him and Kurama, the Alliance would have died several times by now). Sasuke's desire to get revenge on the person who caused all of the pain and suffering for his clan will be fulfilled when he kills Madara (whether he realizes it or not). And with Madara's defeat and the S06P's powers, Naruto should be able to protect those he cares about.
