HELP: Indra's moon is a waning moon!

I thought I understood that the symbols on Naruto's right hand and Sasuke's left hand were referring to Yang and Yin , but it may be more complicated and even more ambiguous:

Indra's moon is in the waning crescent (near new moon) , Sasuke's is in the waxing gibbous (near full moon) as well as the Uchiha clan symbol.
The problem becomes bigger than crescent moon/full moon.

-If we count the waning gibbous (after full moon) , the waxing crescent (after new moon) , the full moon (Naruto) and the new moon (I don't know if I'm really joking:Sakura's clan symbol could very well represent a new moon) , that makes 6 steps for one cycle.
Interesting , like the 6 rings of the rinnegan.
That adds to SirDerpObito's theory of the rinnegan being symbolism of the total lunar cycle.

-Can those steps be paralleled with the 6 realms , the wheel of Samsara?
It seems that it is possible:
Often depicted on Lord Shiva’s head is a crescent moon, representing the cyclical nature of the universe. The waxing and waning of the moon symbolizes the cycle through which creation evolves (creation/maintenance/destruction).

1-Have you got any idea on what could each step represent?

2-Considering that the light that we see coming from the moon(Yin) comes from the sun(Yang) , can the rinnegan represent the mastery of all the steps of the moon cycle , life cycle , Yin/Yang mastery , enlightment?

We must not be in the same base , *_* , everybody is only talking about crescent moon and full moon (or sun , but sun+moon=full moon so let's say full moon).

the moon is just shown as a crescent to make you know its the moon. if it was full , half, gibbous or new it wouldnt look like the moon.

I don't agree , it's a very clear symbol.
A child can find the moon in the sky.
Above Ashura , there is a full moon , because it's night , do I need to expand?
Your argument may have value for the new moon.

Hey, about Indra's moon a waning crescent, that's obvious.

But for Sasuke, how can we tell? It's about perspective. The crescent moon on his hand can just be orientated to look either way. Same for the Uchiha clan symbol.

I agree for the perspective but,

Indra's moon is clearly in the waning crescent.
Sasuke's is in the waning gibbous or in the waxing gibbous depending on perspective.
