It feels phony and forced

I halfway feel like this. I thought they didn't get enough development in Part 1 to hammer in the idea they were like brothers who couldn't stand each other.

I think Kishi dropped the ball on this. Anyone with an annoying younger brother knows what it's like. Naruto and Sasuke declaring to be best friends in the VOE fight felt like a troll move. Comrades I could see, but bffs was a stretch.

Lying to himself? if u look back on part 1 u will see that sasuke only had interactions and basically heart to hearts (haku fight) with naruto i dont remember one scene where he was really having a conversation with any body other than his teammates.

the reason Naruto and Sasuke care for each other is because they're spirtual brothers that's why naruto
consider sasuke like a brother its more of a Ashura and Indra conflict.

That's fair. Personally I think that's why Kishi threw all that in, because he wrote himself into a corner, but then again we've seen the possible reincarnations in: Madara/Hashirama, Sarutobi/Danzo, Jiraiya/Orochimaru, Kakashi/Obito, Naruto/Sasuke.

Sasuke could wanted to save Juugo and Naruto when shit was going down, so I think Sasuke thinks of him as a friend.

Its a one sided friendship, Sasuke is willing to co-operate with Naruto in order to win. They were friends but that was 4 years ago, things have changed.
