Was Hiruzen a bit selfish?

I mean he remained in the Hokage seat for several decades, even though he knew he was getting old and weaker. Now many might argue that at the time Sarutobi was the strongest Shinobi in the leaf which is true ,but he could have easily trained Kakashi so he could be the next Hokage.

Anyways what are your thoughts?

He retired in his 50s. Unfortunately, his successor died and he was forced to take the seat again since Kakashi at the time was too young to succeed him, and neither Jiraiya nor Tsunade were interested in becoming Hokage.

Hiruzen had to take responsibility till their is a valid candidate who is able to become Hokage :/

Just at the moment before Kushina's death she told Hiruzen to take care of Naruto. Yet he treated him like it didn't even matter, didn't even do something about the hate of the villagers towards him and didn't even praise him one bit. What kind of hokage is that? And don't tell me 3rd had to do a lot B.S. he could just have sent someone to take care of Naruto but no he was busy smoking his ass off. He let Naruto to live all alone and didn't tell him about his parents to make him feel any better.
How can you call that a god of shinobi? He is fail as a hokage as well as shinobi
