Abortion Question.

So I was thinking that if a guy got a women pregnant, and the women didn't want to have the child(abortion), but the dad was willing to raise it on his own, that there should be a law that can stop the women from having the abortion and going through with the pregnancy, so the dad can take care of the child. The child has just as much of the fathers DNA in it as well as the mothers. What do you guys think?

OT: In my personal opinion, yes, I believe the father has as much right as the mother to decide if the child lives or is aborted. Unfortunately, there's this "It's the woman's body" bullshit going around.

hmm still there is always the possibility that the father might change his mind mid pregnancy where it then becomes too late for the mother to have an abortion.

While you are on to something here, there would have to be some kind of law or contract signed by the father stating that he agrees to take full guardianship over the child as the father or face penalty sort of thing otherwise guys will be like "keep the baby" then in the last months of pregnancy get cold feet and bail leaving the mom with an unwanted child.

It's true it is the woman's body....but I do agree with you. if the father wants to keep the child he should have every right to.

I also think the mother should pay a form of child support. If men have to pay alimony or child support for a child they want nothing to do with, then so should women, regardless of circumstance.

I understand that it's the woman's body, but it's also the man's child and the child's life at stake, not just her body. Child's life+man wanting to keep child(2 factors)>woman's body(1 factor).

On the topic, this could be fine on paper, except the mother still has to endure Labor, and if she's a first-time mother, this process can take hours longer than experienced mothers. Having to endure hours of labor pains is justifiably unwanted.

There are two sides to this argument, both sides have a point in my opinion.

Of course, the father should be able to have a say in it. It is his child as much as it is the mother's. On the other hand however, the fact does remain that the woman will have to endure nine, extremely challenging months, which is a lot to ask from someone who essentially won't gain anything from going through this experience.

Anyways, meh, it's a delicate subject, I'd rather not argue this too much. Like I said, I feel that both sides have something to them.

9 months of labor<18 years of raising a child. The father's willingness to go through that overwhelms the mother's unwillingness to endure 9 months of labor vastly.

If the woman is willing to go through the pregnancy for the father to take care of the child, so be it. I don't think they should necessarily be forced though.
