I will explain the mentality of the Leaf people.
Why Sasuke's act was humanitarian.
In part one, when Sasuke wanted revenge on Itachi, Kakashi told him absolutely not to go on this path.
Later Kakashi without hesitation helped the three of Konoha 11 to get revenge on Akatsuki.
It seems Kakashi had nothing against revenge this time.
Kakashi could have told Sasuke back then that in the future maybe they will do the same thing with Itachi.
They have nothing against taking revenge on Akatsuki, but agreeing with Sasuke’s revenge in part one was a big problem for them.

It just seems like the Leaf people were like brainwashed to be against the Uchiha.
They were degraded people affected by the Senju prejudices.
They were corrupted .
By killing them Sasuke was doing a good thing since this was the villagers’ way of obtaining redemption.
They had to be saved since the life they were living was only a mockery of the Uchiha haters.
Sasuke was not a criminal for killing them, but their savior.
The Uchiha haters / Senju are the only ones responsible for the fact that the people lives were corrupted with the Uchiha hater ideology.
Since the day they have been brainwashed it was not like they were living. They were only puppets in the hands of the leadership.
By killing them Sasuke was giving them the freedom back.
