I mean people like Smoker, Coby, Akoji and Issho are honest and genuine people.

They want the best for people and are honorable, Akainu is just a bastard on a power trip, I mean why did Garp sit and let Ace get captured and then die whilst allowing the war despite knowing WB is a good guy.

I don't get the WG format, are the people in charge all just butthurt bastards? Even Dragon, the World Government's mortal enemy seems like a good guy.

Maybe cuz they Governments like in the real world?

And the Gorosei aren't really bad, the only bad guys are the CD and Cp9 leader

Because to the One Piece world the Marines are the good guys, the people you listed aren't necessarily directly related to the World Government but the Marines, who fight the ''villains''. Naturally if you want to do good that would be your first port of call in One Piece.

Why is Akainu a bastard? As far as he is concerned, he is eliminating pirates to help people and save lives. Pirates are usually the bad guys. It's his duty to eliminate pirates. The objective was to EXECUTE Ace. He did it himself, so that makes him a bastard?

And Garp and Aokiji aren't much different. Had Garp been unrelated to Ace and Luffy, he would have helped execute Ace. Aokiji could have killed/imprisoned Luffy the first time they met had he not been Garp's grandson.

I'm not trying to be an @sshole, but have you heard of "one piece bay" by any chance? There's probably a whole lot more people who will respond to one piece threads over there.

If anything, Garp is the corrupt one; Akainu was only doing his job. Whether or not WB's intentions was good, he was still a dangerous pirate. I think you don't understand what the word "pirate" actually means.

It's a matter of perspective.
They have a cause and a goal and they do what needs to be done to achieve it and protect their organization.
You can't expect people who are lower in hierarchy to know the actual goals of the WG, or the hidden history of it. They act according to their beliefs and their sense of justice. Akainu did what he had orders to do. He killed a famous pirate who was to be executed. Garp was tormented due to his love for Ace and his sense of duty he.
Some pirates maybe be good guys as you say but don't forget that most pirates steal, kill and take advantage of civilians. Part of WG's work is to protect innocent people from such acts, so I don't see why capturing or killing pirates are opposing to the genuine and honest nature of the people mentioned.

That's how it is in the real world as well.
The Government isn't always the nice and helping one, they are trying to show outside.
Oda does a good job with showing that in a manga/anime.

This is just a case of the bad guys being at the topmost, sometimes they'll make the good ones do what they wont normally do.
And the present WG ain't all just bad guys, just wanna prevent what the ancient evil ones did. The marines were established to be good so there are good guys there but they dont have a say when the WG gives a command. The core bad ones are the ones at the top, the CD's and all the marines care for is not to anger their bosses.

"Pirates are evil? The Marines are righteous? These terms have always changed throughout the course of history! Kids who have never seen peace and kids who have never seen war have different values! Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right! This very place is neutral ground! Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war becomes justice!"

now, why are you being an @sshole?!!!! huh??!!

joke aside, maybe he likes this forum?, we have the right amount of (mature)members on this side of the forum, its a good way to distract ourselves from the "sasuke Solos", "Itachi Totsuka GG", you know?

OT.

i think its because those "honest" members are just pawns to the dishonest ones, and need to just follow the orders.

Because the OP manga is smarter than just painting every-thing black and white, it's a big grey zone.

The Marines default mode is to be the good guys, the pirates are the menace to ordinary people.
How-ever, with such a large organisation as WG, where it seems to be the safes way to get a power grasp, of course some of the branches gets corrupted.
That has little to do with the major ideal of marines though, and more to do with the individual power hungry person whom comes and screw every-thing up.
Like Spandamn and those (Any-one remembers Spandamn, no there was an irredeamable bastard!)

The WG is not just one big thinking mechanism, it's a large group of people, many many individuals, trying to some-how work together.
Though their morals and principles as single persons often ends up becoming different.

Akoji is a person whom has exsperiences this big gray zone, and what the marines are cappable off, he has great sympathy for those simply cauhgt up in the middle of these circumstances and empathises with them.
That is what makes him different from Akainu is much more ruthless and straight-forward seeing the world as either there justice or no justice, he is way more black and white like that, with that much less sympathy.

Coby is a bright young man, whom truly believes in justice and the good the marines can do, for the good of people, he wants to be a hero and wants to help.
That is his motivation, not as a marine, but just as a person and a character.

Though.. there is one core thing that does make the WG.. kind of bad, and is a core problem, I think people have forgotten to bring up.
.. The WG are owned by the Celestrial Dragons! Those are the ones calling the shots on every-thing and dude.. talking about Douchbags!
No wonder with such stupid incompetent people as Celestrial Dragons pulling the strings, the WG is so fragmented.

But nope, this is not just such a simple manga as being. "Good vs. Evil."
It's people vs. People, whom each come from each their side and have each their reasons.. well usually.. we also have our just oure evil single villains..
But overarching, over arching, the manga is smarter than that.
