We only saw Black Lightning once and it was never explained why it was black and what made it different from regular lighting.

Sasule used black lightning last chapter from sage power up.

To use black lighting you must be of the sages lineage.

That explains why Third Raikage had tailed beast chakra reserves and such a strong body and why he always was able to use the Amber Purifying Pot to seal Gyuki when it rampaged. He inherited the sages power so he can use black lightning.

Why is this possible?

Ginkaku and Kinkaku were descendants of Hagomoro so its highly possible more people in Kumo were as well.

Darui is also a descendant. It explains why he can use black lightning and how he was able to use those tools without dying. His chakra reserves are massive too. And before you say TenTen used them, she used one tool and then collapsed about to die until a medic healed her.

It also explains why all of Hagomoros tools ended up in Kumo to begin with. Many of his descendants are there.

Decent theory or no?

The sage was black?
Just kidding just kidding.

This is actually very plausible.
I wouldn't say Darui has massive reserves, maybe just well above average.

Agreed, nice theory/explanation. I have been curious about the black lightning since sasuke used it in curse mark mode.

I like this theory. Unlike a lot of theorys, you have some good evidence.

Using those tools kill normal humans. Tenten collapsed from one use age of the Banana Fan. I would say his reserves are large certainly above all the other generals maybe only tied with Gaara.

The black lightning used by Darui and 3rd Raikage is purely black (with inside markings).

Sasuke's only has a black outline around it.

Maybe the Kumo nin who use it are descendants of Hogomoro's Brother?

Yeah but I still think it has some relevance to Darui and Third Raikage. I think it will be explained better in future chapters on what makes it black like Amaterasu. I also think Third Raikage did not teach Darui black lightning but he learned it on his own because the timeline does not add up.

Maybe the Kumo nin who use it are descendants of Hogomoro's Brother?
Yeah this could be plausible as well.

Its not pure.
Sasuke used pure senjutsu charka vs Naruto.
Now he can freely use pure senjutsu when he wants to.
Anyone who doesn't think its senjutsu are a fool. Its right there in your face, also he hurt Madara so there's another fact.

This isnt a theory when some of these facts r indeed manga facts
Also Sasuke's "black chidori" was black due to the curse mark i.e. nature energy

I was incredibly disappointed.

Darui uses it, it gets some hype, and is stated to have been passed to him by the 3rd Raikage.

We are introduced to the 3rd Raikage, it was our chance to get it expanded upon and fleshed out by it's possible creator... he never even used it.

At the very least, perhaps black lightning was developed for combat at night?

Theory, it's very sketchy to me, we still don't know the dynamics of black lightning
