Kabuto Yakushi. You love him. You hate him, or you just don't care for him either way, but when it comes to the character Kabuto Yakushi, we have to give him more credit than he deserves. Coming from absolutely nothing to trying to find his true self and actually becoming something. Being brought up by a new family without a name to obtaining a name by his foster family. Having absolutely no skill in ninjutsu to Learning the secrets of medical ninjutsu from his foster mother. Being a lost little boy to Becoming an international spy and aiding the villainous Orochimaru with secret experiments. Is it safe to say that this guy is a true genius, and the fact that he acts like a true ninja, he is worthy of being called a Shinobi. It is no doubt in my mind that Kabuto is underrated a lot on this base and even on other forums, but it is more to being a great Shinobi than just being a mountain buster or prophecy child that tries to save everyone with inconsistent hypocritical ideals. Is it safe to say that Kabuto has one of the best character development in this story? Kabuto is a mysterious fella with lots of endurance, commitment, loyalty, and diversity. Kabuto's character and backstory is one of the best in the series. Unlike many other characters in this manga who you can practically read like a book, Kabuto is more interesting as you would never expect him to do the things that he does. That unique aura of darkness intrigues even the most simplest of readers.
When it comes to Kabuto's intelligence, he is one of the smartest people in the manga. Although, being a medical ninja, you should already have the knowledge for many things, he was able to figure out the secret of Tsunade's jutsu and respond accordingly.
Orochimaru is already known as a genius when it comes to conducting experiments, so with Kabuto by his aid he is already trusted with his knowledge by Orochimaru. He was not only able to perfect a jutsu that even Orochimaru made better (Edo Tensei) , but he was able to find the secret of Dragon Sage Mode.
He has Hakugeki, which uses light and sound to blind their opponents and shut down your hearing. This creates a vibration in the air, and completely paralyzes your senses like shown with Itachi and Sasuke. This is particularly used to stop your opponents movements and blind them in their tracks. Kabuto can shut down his vision to ignore the light, but can still sense through his snakes. He can use Suigetsu's ability to turn his body into liquid water to completely nullify the sound. This can be very useful in battle.
Kabuto has Muki Tensei, which allows the user to control lifeless objects. He was able to control the cave with ease allowing him to alter anything he sees fit.
Kabuto also has Oral Rebirth which can re-create life and he has possession of all 4 sound ninja, including Orochimaru. With DSM, Kabuto is one of the strongest characters.
He was also able to completely control the war with tactics and cunning decisions. Kabuto has a 5 in knowledge when it comes to the databooks. He is one of the most intellectual characters in the manga and was even praised on his intelligence several times by others. Being able to figure out how to recover from Tsunade's attack on the nervous system. Even Tsunade admitted she could never figure out how to recover that fast in her prime days. He gathers knowledge on other villages and takes that info in secrecy, just like a true ninja should do. Learning how to perfect Edo Tensei in a short period of time is worthy of acknowledgement.
Kabuto was never one to be strong through hype like Hiruzen or Beastkage. He would prove his worth in battle or in different situations. When is comes to ninjutsu, he excels in this pretty well. He possesses the Dead Soul Jutsu, which is very good for escaping in critical situations;
Even Kakashi acknowledges that this guy is a threat. His skills in successfully escaping Kakashi's clutches clearly show how skillful he is. In the databook, he shares a 4.5, which is very good in the NV. He has Chakra Scapel which is a blade manipulated with chakra that are specifically used for Medical Ninja. This is used to cut vital points on the body. It can be very useful in combat. This ability can even slice through Mokuton;

This technique also bisected Itachi with one strike. Chakra Scapel is just a sharp like blade with chakra manipulated sharpness.

and he was the third person to actually use it, but not only use it, but perfect it. He was able to completely take over the war with this technique and completely manipulate from behind the scenes. Only a true "ninja" would do that. He doesn't announce his self in the open like most people in Naruto do. He stabs his opponents in the back and develops any way that is necessary to be the strongest. Kabuto also excels In Genjutsu;
He was able to completely knock out everyone in the stadium. Only advanced Anbu members and Jounin, not to mention fodder Sakura (unfortunately) was able to release it. When it comes to Genjutsu, he has a 4.5 in the databooks.
As a successful medical ninja, Kabuto can sense evil intentions in medical ninja's chakra;
Kabuto's taijutsu skills are impressive, as he was able to out best Tsunade. Although, Kabuto was never held at being great at Taijutsu, he is still decent.
He stands at a solid 3.5 in the databooks when it comes to taijutsu.
Although Kabuto doesn't have many fans compared to Nardo, Minato or Itachi, you still have to acknowledge how well this character was written and how strong he has become, starting from completely nothing to trying to find meaning in his life.
