title character doesnt always win though lol. In yu yu hakusho yusuke lost the final fight. In dbz, goku lost to kid buu before vegeta stepped in and goku even lost to cell in the arc before that.

Goku stepped down to let Gohan beat Cell, and Goku let Vegeta hold off Kid Buu so he can gain enough power to one-hit Kid Buu. But Goku still beat Kid Buu in the end.
