I see no reason as to how he cannot throw a kunai in front of Gai, who was moving nowhere near 200mph, you cant compare real life and Naruto. Gai was moving fast, but that's just ridiculous. A bullet can go 100-400 mph in a rifle.

I think lee would have had to throw it faster than gai was going.
Since lee is farther away from the point where the kunai stopped than gai was, that means that it had to travel farther in the same amount of time. So it was going faster.

Doesn't matter, at the end of the day gai with 8th gate craps on Minato, gai may not have teleportation but his striking speed combined with his range is obviously enough to place him comfortably above any form of Minato, and Minato's one of my top 5 characters. There's nothing that Minato could have done in that situation other than become gai's scapegoat.
