He is always praised by everyone and loved by every person that knows his past so i don't doubt that his past would become public at the end of the manga and be praised as a hero
But the only ones that know it are Kakashi, Yamato, Obito, Sasuke, Naruto, Hiruzen, and the two elders at the moment, so 8 people. Kakashi, Yamato, and the two elders never praised him. Obito did in his mind, but then he commented that Itachi's fail-safe failed outwardly and that was the end of it.
Hiruzen praised his capabilities as a shinobi, which is natural considering the difficult burden he shouldered and that in this manga, shinobi are expected to endure. Sasuke obviously loves him, he wouldn't be this far if Itachi hadn't done this much for him. And Naruto didn't praise him until after he saved him from Nagato and stopped the Edo Tensei. That hardly qualifies as everyone imo. That's really far from a Gary Stu. The only character that is adored, praised, and loved by everyone is Minato. And even he's not a Gary Stu (he is the closest to it though in this manga) because of how he was handled during the War arc, previously he was one.
As for the truth about Itachi being revealed...I doubt it. The whole concept of Itachi's character is that he does good deeds from the shadows. If it were revealed, it would contradict his character. There's also the fact that Naruto did agree to not reveal it...I don't think he'd go back on his word like that.

Yamato and Kakashi will listen to Naruto and not reveal it either. Hiruzen's dead and Obito's going to die soon. Sasuke isn't going to reveal it either, he knows that Itachi died to preserve the Uchiha's name and protect the village. No one is going to reveal it. Especially considering that Itachi would not want that and yeah, it would let people know he was a hero, but Itachi is dead and he doesn't care for things like that. It would only cause the public to know that the Uchiha clan were going to be traitors to their own village and it would ruin people's perception of them. As of now, they are viewed as an honorable clan filled with elite shinobi that were innocent victims in a tragedy caused by a supposed psychopath. If the truth were revealed, they'd just be known negatively except for that one Uchiha, the opinion would be reversed...that's not something Itachi and probably Sasuke (he has great pride in his clan & knows Itachi didn't want the truth to be revealed, also he wants them to still be glorified) desire. The truth isn't going to be revealed anytime soon, that would go against alot of what this manga has previously stated.
ot: Yes, once again Danzo is a well-written character. U_U
