Why did Obito need the Akatsuki?

Why didnt Obito just take the Rinnegan from Nagato along time ago and just take all the tailed beast back then? After he got the rinnegan he was able to stop all the tailed beast and seal them no problem. And control them with very little issues. It seems like it was a waste of time waiting for the rest of the Akatsuki to capture the tailed beast..(IMO)

Obito didn't want to give his life for madara, of course nobody wouldn't, he needed Nagato too revive Madara. And he needed the akatsuki too capture the beast. And all the akatsuki members got a lot of power so it would be much easier, and for war or something like that

He didn't, they were for plot & you can't really say they served any other purpose other than for the bijuu extraction, but he can still do it on his own as well, it would just take longer. [

Now we know that with kamui obito is able to phase through all barriers & bypass all known forms of security, therefore it would not be difficult for him to sneak into every hidden village & capture the jinchuuriki while they were younger or isolated.

When obito got chased away from konoha by minato there was nothing stopping him from going back to the village a few days later to capture the infant jin. Hiruzen was hardly a threat.

So ultimately the akatsuki was a plot device, a central group of enemies that can only be taken down by powerful or important characters.

Well zetsu isn't 100% human, or qualified to use any Justu at this point.

Madara called him a failed experiment

Like everyone post and what zetsu said himself, we need to collect the bijuus and use Nagato for rinne tensei.

The only People he actually really needed were Zetsu, Nagato and Itachi. All the others were a added Bonus.

Obito failed to capture Kurama and I doubt one man with one MS and a pseudo mokuton could take on all five nations, all their kages and all their shinobi at once. He tried to hold them ransom by using Sasuke to weaken them but that failed as well. And he required Nagato's rinnei tensei, which he could not use without killing himself. Furthermore, he was keeping his presence and identity under wraps until the time was right.
