For me, definitely yes. I'll give you a few examples:
Kabuto: I never once cared for Kabuto. I thought he was a rotten sc*m who deserved to die for his evil actions. The flashback about his past didn't really change my views on him when I read it in the manga. However, once it was animated, I found myself liking Kabuto more and more. Idk why but the way it was portrayed in the anime made me feel very sorry for Kabuto for the touch situations he has been through. All he ever wanted was someone to acknowledge him and that's why he followed Orochimaru's footstep.
Danzo: Do I really need to explain? This guy was always a douc*ebag. I hated him like sh*t but the animators intensified that feeling even more, especially during the Kakashi ANBU filler arc. However, there were times when they went to far such as Danzo's attempted assassination on Hiruzen. I thought that was a ridiculous scene to add as Danzo would never try to kill Hiruzen because one, they were once comrades and two, the risks associated with it were far too great to perform it. Sure Danzo followed a consequentialist approach to his goals but he would never do such a thing to achieve those goals. However, all in all, I'm glad Sasuke got rid of him.
Obito: I always liked Obito ever since he was introduced in the "Kakashi Gaiden" arc and still liked him after he was revealed to be the masked man. However, I never really felt sorrow for his character. I thought his motivation for his villainous actions was quite lame tbh. Not until that "Hell" episode was released. Man, that episode was so intense and full of emotions. The animators did a brilliant job on conveying Obito's feelings to us and that's how it got to me.
