Naruto's dream of being Hokage boils down of his thirst for acknowledgement, but he is already acknowledge by every village.
So, why he still want to be Hokage?

I agree. You don't need to be ruler of a country to love your country. kakashi, jiraiya are best examples

I think he was so focused on becoming the Hokage that he forgot why he wanted become one in the first place

Just like kishi forgot about hiruzen being god of shinobi. He definitely doesn't remember a lot of stuff from part 1. Naruto seems oblivious why he chose to become hokage one day, he now seems like a greedy person. Naruto should've given up his hokage dreams by now. His character development has been terrible

Part 1 naruto is nothing but a moron. Part 2 grow up a little bit. Kishi can't abandon naruto's character. That would mean destroying naruto as a character

And if kishi make naruto give up the hokage dream, that would make naruto a bigger moron than he already is especially when he can't get "hokage" out of his mouth for 2 minutes

Well, being Hokage was the quickest way to achieve his dream of being acknowledge

That was his reason.

His new reason is that he wants to change things and make the world a better place and protect his friends.

Also he promised many people he would do it, if he gave it up he would be breaking his promises to a lot of characters.

And yes you do need a political position to make things better, notice that Jiraya never actually changed anything despite being a Sannin.

I think that if Naruto becomes the Hokage it would disturb the balance of power between the villages

Hasihrama was Hokage and he was the strongest ninja before Naruto and Sasuke, the strongest Ninja is always chosen to be Hokage, because that person is best suited to protect the village.

Also the power won't be an issue because Naruto won't willingly start a war with the other nations, the Kage are aware of this so they will trust him, Gaara openly said that once Naruto becomes Hokage, they will share Sake, that is sacred in Japan, people who share Sake are sworn brothers.

It's like me saying I will be much better than you in the future. And I will strive to be superior to you because I promised you?! Well I can add up some more reason why I need to be better than you. Because you are too useless, and therefore the world need a savior like me. This is the exact example comparable to naruto character. Naruto is no good example. He might found some pretty excuse in part 2, but overall its still lame

Naruto becoming the Hokage means that Konoha will remain the strongest village and will get more clients that will affect the economy of other villages.
Plus the only thing other villages had to balance the power were the bijuu's. Naruto is friend of the bijuu's so i doubt he will give them away like tool's like Hashirama did

The Hokage is the protector of the village. I think it's all still about that for Naruto.

You don't need to be Hokage to protect your village
Example: Naruto vs Pain
