Take the body of a young and healthy boy with no disease and a dojutsu long lost, or the body of a dying boy with a long lost KKG as well, Sharingan appealed to him more because of the thought of copying and learning every jutsu in the world. Kimimaro's KKG wouldn't suit Orochimaru as nasty as he already is, it would look weird.

Sasuke was a potential powerhouse and knowing Orochimaru he analyzed and researched everything and anything of the Uchiha Clan, knowing the Uchiha Clan could awaken a MS and maybe even researched further enough to know that he can gain eternal light his goal would probably to allow Sasuke to reach his maximum capacity and then take Itachi's eyes and gain eternal light with a new EMS. It isn't far fetched since Orochimaru was obsessing over the Uchiha and was very smart and acquired vast knowledge through his days as a ninja. Orochimaru would have to be in a test tube for 3 years under extensive care and supervision taking medicine to stay alive till he found another body, by then Sasuke would be out of the question.
