honestly Kamui probably wouldn't be enough to stop Gai either unless Kakashi could predict where Gai's movements would be , but even that wouldn't be enough . Kakashi would use evasive strategy and shadow clones to avoid Gai .

Wrong, kakashi without sharingan is still fast. The sharingan does not increase physical abilities it increases potential so losing the sharingan does not mean he would lose his speed or strength so kakashi without speed is the same although he might not be able to anticpate or predict movements as well but he is still the faster shinobi out of the 2 while in base. Gai would need to open up the 6th gate to match kakashi's speed because at that time Gai in 6th gate vs kisame, kisame was able to keep up with him up until gai used asakujaku. Kakashi should be able to do so up until 7th gate and then he would get bested even with kamui.
