There are some weird things about the sharingan and so being fans, we wanted to know the realistic side of it.
To learn more we needed to find someone who had a basic knowledge about the world of naruto as well as knowledge about the human eye, so to find out more we interviewed someone who has taken part in countless surgeries concerning the modification of the body, including the eyes and asked him some questions.

So, Mr. Potatoe head, is it possible for the eyes' traits to be passed through a bloodline?

Of course, things like near or far sightedness are partly because of genetics.

Why is it that the sharingan abilities are activated?

Well this probably has to do with chakra. I have heard of cases where someone will have broken their back or something in a way that should be permanent but by focusing on that injury they made a miraculous recovery. Something probably causes their chakra to focus in the eyes to create changes.

Why does the mangekyo sharingan cause bleeding and blindness?

Well there happens to actually be a rare disease called hemolacria where a person has a very high percentage of blood in their tears. One possible cause is that there is a tumor in the back of the eye putting pressure on the blood vessels. With the sharingan this could be due to the tumor being what causes the ability. In the event that there is a lot of chakra focused in the eye the tumor could grow in size. There are accounts of women who during there period bled out the eyes. Modern science sports this theory as tests have shown that women have a higher percentage of blood in the eyes during their period whereas other times they have a slightly higher percentage than men. This could help explain why uchiha are more emotional.

Is complete eye replacement surgery possible?

Well unless you're like me then that is impossible with current technology. This would require severing the optic nerve which consists of more than one million fibers. People are currently researching how to regenerate the optic nerve though. In the world of naruto however it is possible that with ninjutsu they can repair the the optic nerve by simply channeling chakra to that area and manifesting it.

Application of logic to any manga is impossible. But cool thread anyway.

As far as I see only Itachi's and Sasuke's bleed a sign of the Amaterasu a single blood tear for the blood soaked past of the Uchiha and the Sharingan is awakened by extreme emotional trauma releasing a special chakra to the optic nerve and i've never heard of an eye transplant in real life just the medical Ninjutsu of Narutoverse I have heard of manipulating genes to increase the visual range but I don't think that's been accomplished yet question is would you want to be genetically modified
