Will the surpass Netero and Meruem?

Realistically the dark continent opens up numerous possibilities; with "other types of humans" living on the continent there's the possibility of introducing new concepts aside from Nen, or building on them; I.e, ways to make it more effective.

Naturally in a battle series, villain 5 will be stronger than villain 2 when they're showcased, but as Meruem wasn't necessarily for the main characters to defeat in a sense, it may just be that people like Gon, in his adult state is the only time where he's strong enough to beat Meruem.

As much as I love Meruem and Netero I think it'd be lame if they were only surpassed at the end of the series. There has to be people that pose a greater threat than Meruem - who arguably wasn't a 'true' villain.

Considering not many people have been to the dark island, it is only safe to assume that the villain of that arc is going to be insanely strong. It makes me shiver just thinking about it, its so hard to believe that there will be someone stronger than Meruem, that chimera ant was so OP.

I'm guessing so, nearly each arc introduces stronger people. That's really the only way Gon/Killua grow stronger.

True, and that there was an unbelievable cataclysm every time they tried to reach it must speak volumes of the dangers that exist. It's going to be amazing; like the Gourmet world or New World in one piece - something that Naruto should've had. This was the original home of the world tree and chimera ants, by portrayal alone everything must be a higher scale.

If you look at the map it portrays animals as the same size as continents! I can't wait.

i kind of understand where you're coming from but, if it truly happened that way it won't bother me coz it's only fitting of someone on their level (specially Netero).

remember the next villain doesn't necessarily have to be stronger than Meruem, this story is about the growth of Gon and his friends, also he still has a lot of people to catch up with (Hisoka) :heh:

so they don't need to surpass Meruem, they can grow stronger and face a stronger opponent with their team work (example).

Agreed for the most part. But due to the nature of the continent there has to be some greater threat than Meruem. It is his homeland after all.
