Apparently even though Obito was mentally messed up like Sasuke, he gets no sympathy for being taken advantage of during a traumatizing event in which his best friend killed the girl he loved. Just like Sakura's "forgot to breathe" garbage people spew. They belong together I swear...

Anyways, yes and no. Obito had potential but I think the explanation behind how he survived and what he did during and after seemed kind of weak. As for TNJ, of course that would happen. Obito was a good kid and just like Naruto. His heart wasn't completely black from Rin's death. In my opinion, with that one exception, I think he was written rather well. Naruto's parallel but also his opposite.
