Minato aned Kushina did not need to die!!!

Minato and Kushina were killed by the nine tailed foxes claw when he attempted to kill what Minato and Kushina were planning to make his new vessel, Minato and Kushina stopped the claw before it could get to Naruto by sacrificing themselves.

BUT! Minato has incredible speed couldn't he have quickly swiped Naruto before the claw got close correct me if i'm wrong. Tell me what you think, maybe he was saving the last of his energy and chakra for his final jutsu but it is pretty sad about them dying. Minato is my favourite character i think of all of the characters in the Narutoverse
