So, you know how during the war arc, we saw a ton of gigantic powers in use. We were introduced to Biju Mode and Perfect Susanoo. It got to the point where some people complained that the series was no longer about ninjas.
However, ever since Obito became a juubi jin, it changed. Ever since then, most of the fighting went to small scale. Obito was obviously the most powerful ninja at the time, but his attacks (bar TBBs and holy tree) really weren't all that big scale. They were obviously far more powerful.
Now, Naruto, Sasuke, and Madara have all gotten powerups. Yet, none of them now are using a biju mode or susanoo. They're just human-sized with abilities that are overpowered. It seems Kishimoto's making things more ninja like again.
I'd like to also add that you shouldn't underestimate jutsus just because they don't look big. Here's an example.
This jutsu does not look impressive, yet, it cut through Naruto's gudou-dama rod. Now, let's look at a tanking feat that a gudou-dama rod from 6 paths Madara pre holy tree absorption, who was weaker than Naruto.
It tanked Hirudora. Now, take a look at what this jutsu can do from the Kisame fight.
Hriudora was immensely powerful, so, by extension, lightning fang, which doesn't look impressive, is actually an incredibly powerful jutsu. We're going to be seeing smale-scale jutsus, but remember, they're powerful despite their size. Things are getting more tacticle. Things have been getting this way ever since the Obito fight began.
