That's because it didn't require eye contact. A move such as Amaterasu or Limbo requires the mangekyou sharingan to be activated.

Obito survived being totally crushed by rocks by slipping through the floor into Madara's hideout. This was all before he awakened his MS. So its possible Madara could use Limbo then even if its strictly a Rinnegan tech...... but the gap in time between him loosing to Hashi and awakening the Rinnegan is so vast that I gotta say I think its unlikely he used Limbo to survive this.

I could see him spamming that with regular MS and going blind. Plus he never really showed any special MS techs except susanoo so that adds to the posibility. But Sasuke seemed to gain a new ability after unlocking rinnegan so It could have been the same for Madara.

Obito slipping through the rocks is pure BS, even if he did that. Madara makes it clear that it is a Rinnegan technique.
