i don't like that translation. It makes more sense the other way. Also why didnt he phase then if he was able to. He has the speed to dodge that.

It was 'stated' in the manga why obito couldn't use the Kamui. He used is eye to seal the Jubbi in his body, thus rendering it useless. Madara sealed it with a different jutsu however, thus he can use the Kamui. Although, is really admirable for him to use it so quick, and just after Sasuke cut him in half. And also, that was a quick surgery.

Nope, they are prone to mistakes as well. they also oversimplify concepts so that they make more sense in English but they lose the real meaning. They make it look pretty, not accurate.

We can tell this b/c his "intangibility" (quotes b/c it's not really intangibility) is instant while when he travels the other way it takes some time.

This is the only logical explanation, but they have to be a very closely linked ability to be of the same eye. Close enough that i figured that he couldn't warp or use any sort of space time ninjutsu. It might make sense though because other jins can be taken, why not him? But it could also be that his MS abilites as a whole were shut down, not just phasing.
