Hello. Before I get into the theory/insight, I'd like to point out some stuff from this chapter.
Some Points to be connected from these spoilers:
Theory Regarding Madara
So here is the next thing, if you remember back to the Infamous Sasuke getting stabbed scan, he was being held up/levitated somehow by Madara.
We know that Madara used some sort of Occular power just beforehand from the style drawn on his eye and Sasuke (middle panel)
So I'm basically going to assert that Madara used Limbo on Sasuke and that Shadow Madara facilitated/levitated Sasuke.
A possible visual representation just to show you what I mean:
Interestingly enough, Madara makes mention of "two realms" while he was remembering Hashirama. This could've been early foreshadowing/hints. (Top Right)
Now after seeing that, I had some recollection regarding that event.
I feel that Madara may have used the Limbo/Shadow Madara to save himself in the fight at Valley of the End.
Madara was able to discover/come into contact with this World using his advanced knowledge and skill in the application of Inton/Yoton jutsu.
In fact he used something similar of Creation of All Things to manifest his will into the Black Rods and create Zetsu.
Madara also knew numerous Rikudo Jutsu, so this may not be that far-fetched. (bottom right)
So to restate, Madara came into contact with the Shadow Madara before his conflict at VOTE with Hashirama.
Once Madara was about to die, the Shadow Madara saved him.
Even though he was not in complete Sage Mode, Hashirama was able to sense the Shadow Madara with Senjutsu Chakra-
Just like Naruto sensed the Shadow Madara.
Also remember that Hashi and Naruto were both Ashura's reincarnation at their times as well
So it would make sense that they each would sense the Shadow Madara as Naruto has felt Indra's presence within Sasuke before during the 5 Kage Summit Arc.
EDIT: Some people are misunderstanding; what Madara used at VOTE obviously is not the same concrete version of the Limbo he just used against Naruto/Sasuke. I did address this but I'm pointing this out once more.
General Summary:
Some Points to be connected from these spoilers:
Madara is directly using Kaguya's powers right now (or specifically Senpou: Yin Release Lightning Wave)
Here is Kaguya using it on a more grand scale. (bottom right)
I've seen some confusion on why Sasuke's eye is "switching" back and forth from the Sharingan and Rinnegan.
So to sum it up:
He probably can just switch back and forth to it like Madara did with the EMS and Rinnegan.
But we also know that Sasuke's eye apparently became a Rinnegan while he saw the Limbo/Shadow Madara-
which leads me to think that the Rinnegan in this case specifically may be showing and representing the Dark/Inton aspect.
It'd make sense because Sasuke was able to see the "Shadow Madara" within the "Shadow World." (Limbo realm)
(Obviously Naruto cannot see Madara as he doesn't have the eye but using Nature energy he can. But I'll bring this up again later)

- Now you may bring up the fact that Limbo is a Rinnegan technique and therefore Madara could not have possibly done such as he only had EMS at the time.
- But I'd to propose that Madara's actual/physical attack with Limbo is the Rinnegan technique.
- Or basically, Madara can only control the movements of the Shadow Madara for offensive/defensive maneuevers through the Rinnegan techniques.
- Meaning, the Limbo world still exists and has a shadow version of Madara.
Madara was able to discover/come into contact with this World using his advanced knowledge and skill in the application of Inton/Yoton jutsu.
