I don't think that's how it work...it would too be ridiculous for Sasuke to imagine someone dying and they simply die....what he has is the ability to rewrite reality itself.

His Yin-Release however allows to govern the imagination(does allowing him to create a form out of nothingness) he could create things such as Spiritual weapons(Sword of Totsuka and Yata Mirror)

Because sasuke switched place with the sword last second. So when madara filed to sasuke, he ended up flying to sasuke sword, got himself a heart piercing

At the end. When madara pulled the sword out, sasuke switched with the sword again with naruto, the result is an instant sandwich on the ham madara

Considering the sequence of events, it doesn't make much sense for him to control time.

Maybe if sasuke appeared before madara with the sword in hand or stood right next to naruto then time manipulation would make more sense.
