Not like that matters much. Hashirama has not shown that he has a jutsu as fast as those balls, and is basically Madara - the Juubi. His regeneration hasn't been shown to be on par with Juubidara's either, so he gets blitzed and smashed into a pulp eventually by Evening Elephant.

But when I went back throught the manga to look at guy in the past and some of the words madara stated after there battle, I think it is possible for might guy to live after opening the eight gate.

Don't bother, Madara said that it was Naruto that stopped / closed the 8th gate, not Gai.
