I mean, I totally love OP and all, but my God! He's such a slacker, He just came back from break a few weeks ago, and now he's gone again. Naruto and bleach hasn't gone for break in a while now, but OP has gone twice. So is there any other reason why there wasn't a One piece chapter on Wednesday? If not, I'm gonna go with "He's pregnant"

Okay. Just to be clear, ANY professional mangaka, should not be regarded as a slacker. Many of them are practically slaves to drawing their manga. They have very little free time usually.

I do believe that we are getting a double issue next week.( I could be wrong though). So oda may not have taken a break, but wanted to release 2 chapters at once(basically extra long chapter).(again I might be wrong about the double issue.)

But it is odd that oda is takeing quite a bit more breaks than the other mangakas.

Please do your own research about the double issue. I am likely incorrect about it.

Try googleing "mangaka work schedule". The results are pretty startleing.

Oda got really sick a few months back and was hospitalized. The doctor pretty much told him if he kept at the pace he was going, he would die.

Basically Oda sleeps maybe 3 hours every night. the rest of the time he is drawing One Piece.


Because of this, the doctor has made it mandatory for him to work the way he is doing now so he doesn't die.

Basically its Oda works for 2 weeks, then takes a week break.


Not to mention Oda being a chain smoker probably doesn't help much as well.

Also.. have you ANY idea how much works it takes to draw a manga page? And keep it high quality!?
Just.. just try and sit down, and draw a comic panel, see how much time that took you, and then look at how nice it looks.. and probably, even though some-one spend hours on it, it doesn't look that nice, it'll take even MORE hours!

That these mangakas mangakas put new chapters out almost every week is freaking INSANE! There's suche a huuuuuge amount of work going into every single chapter, so to call ANY of them a slacker.. is quite frankly insulting towards them and their hard work.

It takes so much hard work to even make it as Mangaka in the first round, and then to have created such a long series as One Piece and still be going... is insane.
It's pure insanity and we are lucky there are people insane and passionate enough to do it.

The only thing I hate more than spreading rumors is spreading bullshit.

First of all if he WAS terminally ill, how could he have cured from that if it was terminal ? This is absolutely untrue and the biggest bullshit in this thread.

Also Oda doesn't pick his own breaks, it doesn't work like that. Other reasons might be the magazine want to spread their best selling manga out a bit more, holidays like golden week, scheduled breaks or the doctor telling Oda to slow down (Again this is a rumor, I don't have the slightest idea if this is true)

And even if he did took time off, cut the guy some slack. He has a wife and kid and has been doing this work since 1999.

2. How many volumes of OP donyou own?
3. Have you read the last chapter of Op? It had twice the content of both Bleach and Naruto put together, in general OP comes with about as much new content as 2 chapters of Naruto most of the time, not even to mention Bleach

You need to refamiliarise yourself with the phrase Terminally Ill. It simply means that Oda was spending time in Hospital because of his sickness. Hence he stayed in a "terminal" (ward). This is where the phrase comes from. Bye sir. Don't make yourself look like such a knob again
