Is Shikamaru now useless?

I am still wondering what part Shikamaru will play at the moment, if any. it's like the current war has gone beyond his IQ and Madara is like the smartest badass ninja because everything seems working for him.

Any thought?

Like, 95% of the people on that battlefield are useless now.

As for the intellegence thing, it's tough to say. Compared to Madara, Madara is more than likely smarter. But as for Naruto and Sasuke, they maybe more powerful and such, but I doubt they had a sudden drastic increase in IQ.

Madara the smartest ninja? and sadly yes, he is pretty much useless like most side characters. That's where Shippuden failed. In part 1 it felt more balanced and there wasn't a huge power gap between the main characters and the side characters and orochimaru was epic.

He'll probably become Naruto's adviser soon. But for now, all he can do is to think of a strategy to win the battle or else just to stay and watch the epic fight of Naruto and Sasuke against Madara cause Shikamaru and the people in the battlefield now have no match for Madara so they really need to stay out of it! =D

Part 1 Shikimaru was a great character. Side characters are beyond fodder at this point. Which sucks

As of now,the limelight is on Naruto and Sasuke! Sadly,Kishi is not at all bothered about any of the side characters and is only focussing on Madara,Naruto and Sasuke.
Shika can never be useless.He is going to become the Chief Strategist of Konoha following his father's footstep.Hopefully! (Shika's fan)

Asuma once praised him for his ability to think several steps ahead. The way he won Temari who was far stronger than him in part1 through smartness makes one to think he'll be indispensable in defeating stubborn opponents. But his hype is failing

No shikamaru will never be useless (as long as he is not unconcious) evne if he had no ninja powers, his intellect could and would still help the ninja alliance (by figuring out the best things to do in every moment and telling everyone what to do)

every single other ninja of the konoha 11 would be useless without powers, but not shikamaru
