Since this is a hot topic right now I'm going to explain why he's only got a single rinnegan, and why it's on his left side.
The chapter the sage gave Sasuke and Naruto their power he said "place your dominant hand out and I will grant you power". Naruto placed up his right, while Sasuke his left. This suggests that Sasuke is left handed. Humans also have a dominant eye as well. I'm guessing that's probably Sasuke's left eye.

A lot of people are saying he's only got one because the Juubi, and Kaguya did as well, but I don't think this is really the reason. The sage may have wanted to limit Sasuke's powers since he still is unsure about trusting him. So naturally he's going to only grant him a singlt rinnegan.

Also for all of those that said I was wrong, and I was stupid, when I stated Sasuke isn't getting spiral eyes. Gotcha. Those spirals were only drawn in to represent the hypnotizing effect of the sharingan.

looks like he will only need one. and would probably be able to use sharingan tech and rinnegan tech with just the one eye.

check sasuke's rinnegan, its not normal, its like the juubi's eye, not like pain or madara's, i dont think his eye is just the rinnegan, i think its the juubi eye, which is a combination of all the sharingan and rinnegan meaning he still has susanno and all the rinnegan powers.....think about it

One eye is the rinnegan. Maybe he could switch the right to Eternal. But most likely his Left eye is more dominant that's his amaterasu eye after all.

The juubi only had one eye, hence the synonymous physical impression of only one eye on the individual. Just like Kaguya as well.

It's possibly a simple drawing error,although that's unlikely. Also I'm 90% sure he will get the Juubi Rinnegan in his other eye as well, he's meant to transcend Madara one way or another.

I don't think it's the rinnegan.

It's the eye on Hagoromo's forehead. That's probably why he only got one.

If u notice kaguya has the third eye power as (sharingan+rinnengan) we don't know what it can u ,madara could only swap between the two eye power ,so sasuke having only one eye upgrade may trump madara in away
