where did the idea come from that itachi was smart?
nearly everything hes done has been illogical and poorly thought out.

sasuke is the one who uses genjutsu tactically and strategically. itachi spams it right off the bat for a quick auto win. which results in him lacking the experience to dig down in long fights.


naruto was analysing jutsus by chapter 3 when he tried to trick kakashi. this is nothing new. and figuring something out is not the same as what itachi did. all itachi did was say how to attack it. not analyse every single aspect of it. its not a complex jutsu anyway. its just making a mini moon.

yeah, shikamaru isn't so great at coming up with instant plans in a high pressure situation. The only time he kind of did was against hidan(the first time) but even then he had asuma backing him up and izumo and kotetsu protecting him.

Intelligence refers to knowledge overall. Itachi has knowledge on how to read people's minds and manipulate them. Just like how he did with Kabuto and Sasuke. Thus, its intelligence. The difference between Itachi and Shikamaru is, Itachi can think faster while being pressured, Itachi can form a long span plan, and Itachi can read human's mind and use it in battle. Shikamaru is only better when it comes to forming strategy.

he didnt analyse anything. he pointed out the god-pissing obvious. that CT sucks things in and the centre is the origin.
any chunin worth their salt has noticed the basics of a jutsu like that. kakashi figured out shinra tensei in 1 page.

He's portrayed as being the smartest, most intelligent, analytical, whatever character since part 1.
His whole battle style is about understanding and coming up with a plan to defeat his opponents. There's a reason why he lacks firepower...
I'd like to see a manga scan where Itachi is said to have a 200+ IQ and can come up with dozens (or hundreds, don't remember well) of plans during a single battle.
