Do you think Kishimoto initially intended for Kabuto to loose his powers?

I think at the time when Kabuto was defeated by Itachi, Kishimoto intended for Orochimaru to take his Chakra out of Kabuto and get rid of all his snake features/snake abilities and lose his powers. But now as we have seen, Kabuto still has sage mode and his original powers.

I think Kishimoto then later changed his mind and decided that he wanted Kabuto back with his sage mode powers. Kishi was just like YOLO!

Yes, Kabuto trained at the Ryūchi Cave under the Great White Snake and learn Sage Mode on his own. Orochimaru could not learn Sage Mode because his body can not control the Senjutsu.

Sage Mode doesn't work like that...
You can't take away someone's Sage Mode. You can dispel the natural chakra but the person can collect it back and enter SM again.

I meant his current one. I just figure that cloaked Kabuto's appearance was Orochimaru's cells, but the SM Kabuto was his own. If he got horns from SM, then it makes sense his appearance would also reflect a snake.

I believe Kishi once explained in an interview that once you have something, chakra or otherwise, it never goes away.

Kabuto still has his snake features and Oro's chakra, for the same reason Gaara still has his sand manipulation.

You can't take SM away which explains why Kabuto can still use it.Still,why Kabuto reverted back to his normal state instead of staying in SM is a big mystery.

Sage mode doesn't work like that, you can take away the chakra, but not the ability.

All Oro did was take his chakra back. Kabuto still had his own chakra and passive chakra absorbtion abilities. He may not be as strong as he was before but he was already OP as hell. I hope he gives some GMO sage abilities to Sasuke
