Itachi killed his clan because they were going to wipe out the whole village and all the rest of the clans as well as ignite another world war.

Danzou conspired with Orochimaru and allowed him access to Konoha and the fire country for his rebellion.

He also stole Hashirama's cells as well as the sharingans, asurped the hokage position, tried to manipulate Mifune and the war and worst of all, let Konoha perish in Pein's invasion simply because he did not like their ideals and that they followed Tsunade. They are nothing at all the same.

Correction, Danzou kills the leaf. Itachi protected it from those who broke off and wanted to destroy it. If he hadn't, all the main characters and most of the world would probably be dead now. Tobirama stated they were beginning to follow Madara's ideals again after he left and that was why he banished them from the village.

Itachi did have some flaws but never put him to the level of that ass*ole Danzo.

First of all, remember that it's not just the Uchiha clan massacre, he messed up with many things!

1. Manipulating Hanzo to destroy the early Yahiko's Akatsuki. The death of Yahiko turned Nagato evil. An evil Akatsuki was born.

2. Messed up with Kabuto's life. He wanted to dispose of 2 shinobis (Nonou and Kabuto) who had been loyal to Konoha. Nonou died and Kabuto became evil.

3. Where was he during Pain's invasion? He and his Root deliberately hid themselves, willing to let Pain destroyed Konoha and killed the villagers. For what? He wanted Tsunade to go down so that he could become Hokage.

4. He worked with Orochimaru, thus involved in the death of many innocent test subjects. And where was he when Orochimaru invaded the village? Must be the same case as in Pain's invasion. That time, he himself must must had been involved in Orochimaru's invasion.

itachi tortured his brother to madness to cause sauske as much pain as possible, helped give nukes to akatsuki, hekped murder 6 innocent jins which DID ignite a world war, and tortured kakashi for the fun of it.
