Hinata would have made a good main character. (NOT A SAKURA BASH!)

First of all to clarify, I am NOT insulting Sakura as a main char. I like Sakura. This thread has nothing to do with Sakura. I'm just saying that Hinata would make a pretty cool heroine. The definition of a hero/heroine according to Bloomsbury Guide to Human Thought. London: Bloomsbury Publishing LTD, 1993. Credo Reference. Web. 17 September 2012 is:

"A hero (masculine) or heroine (feminine) refers to characters who, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, display courage and the will for self-sacrifice—that is, heroism—for some greater good of all humanity. This definition originally referred to martial courage or excellence but extended to more general moral excellence."

I think Hinata fits this definition perfectly, she was in a position of weakness, she was constantly in the face of adversity. Yet she overcame that and displays great courage and the will for self-sacrifice. And all for the greater good of humanity. She possesses a high degree of moral excellence.

I think you have a misconception here, in anime and usually media terms, a hero or heroine is just the star of the show, you don't need a dictionary to tell you this.

Valid I guess. But I didn't use a dictionary. Hero/Heroine in the dictionary is defined differently than what I put. That was some book that analyzed philosophy and heroism and stuff like that. But it's valid both ways.

Naruto: Brash and impulsive (speaking part I)

Sasuke: Cold and distant

Hinata: Shy and gentle

They all reach out at different aspects. As far as character pasts go, Hinata can easily serve as a bridge between the two.

Hinata-Sasuke: Both come from noble clans of Konoha. Both had fathers who would never look their way... watching something else (Itachi/Hanabi).

Hinata-Naruto: Both can feel some degree of being ostracized. Naruto was picked on for being the Jinjuriki, and didn't even know it. Hinata was cast away from her direct family, and even her distant family (Neji) was cruel to her due to events in the past she had no sway over. Though, obviously there's a bit of scale difference in their degrees of being ostracized. Both also have a label as "failures" as of Part I.

These connections serve as ways in which bonds can be formed between both Hinata and Sasuke/Naruto, but pending how these moments are used, allow for moments where Sasuke and Naruto can understand more about each other with a little help (as their personalities clashed, and didn't always lead to a complete understanding).

This isn't a vs thread. You've come to the wrong place. The claim isn't that Sakura isn't a heroine. Just that Hinata could've been one.

I respect your opinion, But the reasoning behind my opinion is, Is that i like the ''sort off'' love triangle between Sakura, Naruto Sasuke.

I like Hinata's character as she is.

I agree , i would love it if she had more screen time and side stories for her ( hyuga stuff) ,And eventually become heroine (like wendy in FT or Robin). I wish kishi handled sakura and hinata like oda handled robin and nami .(minus the fan service ) . But its too late now.
