Dont get me wrong I like Gai and all but damn that was so ****ing gay how Naruto just shows up and "saves the day" I mean this is a war against the biggest threats to Narutoverse ever and no one important is dying at all???? Seriously that makes the threat so much less intimidating this is like the 5 kage all over again and its really pissing me off Kishi is way too overprotective of his characters and the series is about to end whats the point of all of these side characters living anyway???? I mean come on....

Naruto told the sage he didn't want to lose anymore friends, last time he said something similar Neji died. By saving Guy he's proving he can change everything, just like he said. As for Guy, he will either be magically healed or retired permanently. If he died then everytime Naruto says he will stop anymore deaths, he's destined another to die.

But the problem with kishi isnt the not dying part. Its people staying dead. Luckily though he hasnt gone the path of dbz yet, and made people die more than once, and be alive still.

At least kishis people who are healed or revived, makes more sense than "just wishing them back"(dbz), or "they just survive fatal attacks without getting handicapped"(One piece).

There have been plenty of deaths in naruto. The main problem was kishi did not develop enough characters to kill off well.

All that said, I do think gai shouldve died. I will be content, if gai has a permanent side effect, such as rapid old age, never able to do taijutsu anymore etc. If gai makes a full recovery, I will be disappointed in kishi.

Yes, Ao, Inoichi and Shikaku all died as well. The problem with their deaths is that they were very impersonal. They died while not on the front lines.

I totally agree. What pulled me in in the second half of the story was that you could lose anybody, anytime, and thier deaths were a major part of the storyline, how characters dealt with it, how that changed the story moving forward etc... The idea that you have all these super high level ninja that can do god-like attacks who cant seem to ever kill each other and even when they do, theres always a magic reason they come back to life, it totally makes you not take it seriously. The fact that Naruto is magicking Gai back to life cheapened everything Gai did the last few issues. Theres never any risk in anything at the time in the book there should be the highest risk of people dying.
