Nah read the op... he thought those flashbacks were for gai to hint to us readers that he was going to die when in actuality it was for use to see that Gai would become stronger than Kakashi... atleast thats what I got from these two scans

Logic, I can see it. Agreed 100%. Also if guy didnt use the 8th gate it would have been a big unused chekovs gun. If you guys don't know what that is, look it up on tv tropes.

But then when Naruto pops out of nowhere everybody is relieved. Stop whining and go with the flow.
