Naruto's a Genin by circumstance. If he wouldn't have went to train with Jiraiya he would have been a Chunnin like the rest of his friends or possibly a Jounin like Neji. Dai was a Genin and he was like thrice Naruto's age, living in Konoha, apparently with peers that were of higher rank, he just sucked.

Dai was nothing special without Gates. Gai is Low-Jonin level without any gates. Anyway, plenty of the swordsmen could have gotten killed by him.

They're portrayed as being on Zabuza's level (more or less), i don't see how 7 Zabuzas is enough to take down 5 kage level opponents at the same time, by feats or portrayal.
They didn't survived Gai's 8th gate w/o casualties. Its very likely that he killed some of them (Raiga, Zabuza's predecessor, Chojuro's predecessor) and that gave birth to a new alignment of swordsmans (the one we saw at the war).
Its also unkown how strong Dai was when using the 8th gate.

Why are you comparing it like that? Five kages have different fighting styles which will be much more trouble for an eight gated user.
