Shouldn't Rock Lee be opening the 7th gate by now?

I have massive respect for Rock Lee and as such I think that it doesn't make sense that the hard-working Lee can only open 6 gates. He opened 5 gates as Genin against Gaara at the Chuunin Exams. 3 years later, he can only open 1 more gate. Am I the only one that thinks that he deserves to be able to open 7 gates?

You're soo on the money!! Kishi neglects lee throughout part 2, by going logically I think he should able to unlock all 8th gates!

6th to 8th gates are clearly more intense - Lee was barely capable of handling the pressure of the 5th gate so it's only natural it will take longer to reach beyond that.

maybe the difficulty rises exponentially....only the fact that he can open up to 6gates is very impressive...

7th gate on a whole another level this gate beat Kisame with a punch so it takes more skill and work to open it.

Rock Lee is one of the hardest trainers in the manga, he is determined and he works really hard. A 13 year old Lee opened 5 gates. I agree that he was a bit shaky with the 5th gate but he could still fight. A 17 year old Lee can open the 6th gate. Now, I know that each gate is a whole nother level but it just doesn't sound like much of a feat. 4 years later and he's only opened 1 gate. I know the 7th gate is extremely powerful, but that's exactly why he should be able to do it. Because all the other chars can do very powerful jutsus now. Knowing Lee'd character, he should deserve the super powerful 7th gate.

What we're basically saying is going from 5th to 6th gate is the equivalent of learning the byakoyou, gentle step twin lions, 8 trigrams 64 palms, all of Gaara's enhanced Sand Technique, Ino being able to communicate with everyone at the battlefield and so on. Because that's what the other chars are doing. They're all showing off ultimate jutsus and so forth. If opening the 6th gate is equivalent to all of that then Lee will be invincible by opening the 7th gate.

But think about it. When Gai went into 6th gate to defeat 30% of Kisame. Naruto used an Oodoma Rasengan and defeated 30% of Itachi. Itachi wasn't throwing that match either. I mean we're comparing 6th gate to Oodoma Rasengan here.

You should also remember that opening the 7th gate doesn't automatically mean you get Daytime Tiger. I'm not suggesting that Lee should be able to use techniques like Daytime Tiger. I'm just suggesting the meer opening of the gate.

yes in future he surely can but now its so hard to maintain 6th gate for him 7th gate probabily does the same pain as 8th to gai

The degree of difficulty increases the higher up one gets.

The 6th Gate puts him at Mid Kage tier anyway.

Once you can open 7, I'm pretty sure you can then open all 8, since the Eighth Gate is just sending chakra from all the other Gates into the heart [

İt is probably for making Lee's next improvement in a way he won't die.

Plus he is maintaining gates for some good while in last chapters.
He came down to main battlefield with atleast 4th gate, opened 6th one when Madara's horn cracked and was still in gates after half of Madara's headband shattered. That's some long while of maintainance. Good improvement for me.
