Sharingan's potential > Rinnegan's potential

Before the recent chapter, I'm sure most people assumed that the Rinnegan > Sharingan since Madara awakened it after he obtained the EMS. However, what we learned was that the Rinnegan is simply the combination of Indra's and Ashura's chakra creating the Sage's eyes.

We also now know that the Sage's mother > Sage. And Sage's mother had the Sharingan (on top the Byakugan). In the Sage's own words, "it [the Sharingan] was a gruesome eye power".

The strongest Biju, the Juubi, has a Sharingan. The Infinite Tsukuyomi, a jutsu that can end the world, is activated by a Sharingan.

It's safe to say at this point that the potential of the Sharingan trumps the capabilities of the Rinnegan... but I wonder... should we have seen this coming?

The first hint came when the manga suggested that it would be Itachi's doujutsu, and not Nagato's, which would have a decisive impact in this war.

And then Madara, who possessed the Rinnegan, claimed a Sharingan technique --Perfect Susanoo-- was his most powerful technique.

Of course there is no denying that the Rinnegan that is a powerful doujutsu, but the manga doesn't really portray it as an upgrade to the Sharingan.

In fact, there are many instances where the Sharingan can rival or surpass the Rinnegan's utility. Although, I'm also not saying that the Sharingan >> Rinnegan either. One way of thinking of it would be like this:

• The Rinnegan's potential starts with kid Nagato's level and ends with the Sage's level.
  
• The Sharingan's potential starts with a fodder Uchiha's level and ends with the Sage's mother's level.

Generally, the is Rinnegan better. But, ultimately, the Sharingan is better.

Pain's usage of the Rinnegan proved that MS techniques > Rinnegan techniques.

What makes the Rinnegan better is that if you're an Uchiha you can use your MS technique along with the Rinnegan abilities together.

Sharingan has shown to be better at genjutsu for w/e reason. Madara had to use EMS to cast Tsukuyomi on Ay.

If we were to compare Rinnegan techniques to MS techniques, then MS is better.

Kamui, Kotomatasukami, and Perfect Susano'o > Rinbo hemgoku, Chibaku tensei, ninjutsu nullification.

Kaguya had more than byakugan/sharingan, she also could create lightening from what we saw.

I don't think either is superior to the other. Rinnegan isn't immune to the MS genjutsu techs just as MS doesn't have the destructive power the Rinnegan does. It just depends on the task you need to complete.

The Rinnegan IS the Sharingan in it's evolved form. It's possible the Sages Rinnegan combined Sharingan and Byakugan as the Sages Mother has both (although that is just a theory).

The process being: Sharingan - Rinnegan - 9 Tomoe Sharingan (Juubi Eye).

While the full use of the rinnegan is yet to be shown.

Take it as Kakashi with the sharingan or Ao with the Byukagan.

Kakashi can't use Susanoo, Tsukyomi, or intangible Kamui.

Ao can't use the air palm, rotation, or 64 palm like a true blooded Byukagan.

Point being, we haven't seen a real rinnegan user yet. (Madara or Obito is yet to make full use)

We haven't seen the full power of any doujutsu. The Sage can bring out the full power Rinnegan. The Sage's mother can bring out the full power of the Sharingan (and presumably the Byakugan).

Between the two, the Sage's mother is the strongest.

The sages mom had both Byukagan and sharingan but ya fair enough.

We did see Kaguya's release a thunderstorm in the sage's images.

While the Orange mask Tobi did the same after sending pain after naruto.

This nonsense again.The sharingan is nothing more than a water down rinnegan.Just like all dojutsus, the strength of each depends on the users.The Sage's rinnegan is not the same as Madara's rinnegan.Also, the Sages mother having a Sharingan is meaningless.This doesn't prove or even hint at the sharingan being more powerful...For one, Kaguya main eyes were Byakugans and there isn't anything to say her strength had more to do with the sharingan or Byakugan.But one thing we know is when the sage described his mother sharingan to naruto it he was mainly taking about Genjutsu.And we know that that genjutsu is useless against a rinnegan.As for the Juubi having a sharingan, the juubi was defeat, split into nine and had it's body turned into the moon by a wielder, possibly two wielders, of the rinnegan.


Throw in the fact that most MS technique are counter by the rinnegan.

I think it depends on the use of the dojutsu. Obito kept both a Sharingan so ehy can have a better speed and perception, Obito could not give the Jin paths Six Paths power. But the Rinnegan allows you to use Gedo Mazo and make the Juubi, the reason Itachi was special because he had the genjutsu. Remember Kaguya had power from the fruit that is what made her strong. I think Madara was hyping Perfect Susano since he was not used to Rinnegan's powers and he didn't really utilize the full Rinnegan powers in the Kage fight. Rinnegan is a mixture of both chakras to get to closer to the Sage.

, she had all 3 eyes, Same as the Juubi. Also she has 9 Tomoes while a regular Uchiha only gets 3 Tomoes then it changes from Tomoes to MS then to EMS so no they don't have that potential unless that have both Ashura and Indra's power (makes the Sage's power) and surpass it. The Rinnegan can use any jutsus while the Sharingan can copy all but Bloodline limits and you say that's a Sharingan jutsu but since Rinnegan can use all jutsus, I can say the same for the Rinnegan since Madara was using it with his Rinnegan. Plus the Rinnegan lets you combine elements and form that black jinton like jutsu that Juubito and Madara use which can slice through Susanoo and Edo tensei and make them look like nothing.
