This is a little late at this stage (I've been away on a holiday) but I feel the need to make this thread.

In chapter 570, Kishimoto fixed a mistake and redelivered a beautiful message.

The whole hard work message from Part 1 has been muddied by the reveal of Naruto's heritage. How can Neji be wrong, Naruto has greater genetics than him? Well, the Sage of the 6 Paths himself answered this question:

Personally, I can relate. My dad was a very skilled carpenter but I'm useless at that kind of work, I'm much more suited for desk jobs. I know a lot of people have similar stories. This was an ideal I was/am going to include in my fanfic (#shamlessselfpromotion).

People are still complaining due to the reincarnartion business, but that just means some of Ashura's will was inherithed by Naruto. Naruto was a drop out but through hard work, determination, and the need to protect his friends became a legendary hero. And that's what makes him an inspiration, and closes out one of his story's best ever chapters.

Sakura kind of contradicts this, look at what she have don't by just stretching her chakra control. So at the end of the day, it depends on the scenario and how one interrupts it.

Seemingly normal girl, always had perfect chakra control, never really required hard working.

Otherwise... I don't exactly agree with what Neji died for (aside for keeping Naruto alive. Hinata just happened to be there and apperantly didn't have enough time to grab Naruto and jump out the way but did have enough time to jump next to him then in front of him)

Lee's a harder worker than naruto. We've seen lee do 1000 pushups while just out of surgery. No one works harder than that, yet lee's no where close to naruto or sasuke's level? Hard work my ass.

No it's the other way. Many characters like Naruto, Sasuke, Madara, Hashirama are strong because of their genes. There are ninjas who got strong from hardwork lime Minato, Raikages, Mu and Onoki and Gai but they are not as strong as the born with power characters. I prefer hard work since it is way more cooler and more impressive especially with Gai.

Gai is currently show casing the fruits of hard work.

He wasn't born a Genius or highly talented, His father was an eternal Genin, Yet despite this he is currently fighting and Injuring The juubi Jin.

That's true considering Sasuke was born in the elite clan and Naruto had nothing and is equal if not stronger than him now. Naruto had massive pools of chakra which made chakra control for him extremly hard and yet he was able to run on trees at the same pace as Sasuke. He mastered Sage mode despite being a jinchuriki something that even Jiraiya couldn't do. He was the first jinchuriki to befriend Kurama and use his power to his needs. There are so many more..

Pretty much this, no one's denying that Naruto trains but he doesn't put in the amount of work that Lee does.

Naruto was never much of a hard worker in my opinion...this is basically how he recieved his powers as shown below.He only worked hard in part 1 at the beginnin.g

Process of Naruto gaining powers

1)Sucked at the academy.

2)Cannot graduate.Run into forest, get forbidden scroll , learns Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu in a day

3) Put in 2/3 days worth of effort learning how to walk on trees with Sasuke

4)Learnt how to walk on water within a day or 2 with Ebisu

5)Spent a month learning summoning jutsu (Worked quite hard for this bit)

6)Spent a week learning Rasengan without much sleep ( Okay , he worked quite hard for this week)

7)TimeSkip, got some new techs. Cannot really judge

8) Learnt how to cut a leaf within 6 hours ( normally people take 6 months)

9) Learnt how to cut a waterfall in less than a month together with Rasen-Shuriken

10) Went to learn Sage Mode within a few weeks

11) Went to waterfall of truth , defeated true self within a day or two

12) Went to go deeper within himself to control kyubbi chakra , IN A DAY

13)Kyubbi goes "Hey , Naruto , lets work together." BAM , Bijuu mode ( Time taken , a few minutes )

14)Naruto:"hey, sage attacks work on the Jubbi!.Let me try this asspull technique mixing chakra with the Kyubbi"

15)Naruto:"Help , i am dying" "Hmm..I am Ashura Reincarnation and going to get Sage Power? Woot"( Still within the same day with number 14)

Total training time not counting the breaks he took in between 2-3months(not counting the time in the academy)

The thing is that naruto does not seem to be working very hard in my opinion. He just occassionly goes on this few short burst of hard training then bam.Powerup..then he slacks off again for a while.

and yet madara is enjoying every bit of it. and he will still roflstomp guy in the end.

i don't fully agree with op the hard work > talent but in the end both are admirable if they fought hard for their cause. like what guy is doing right now, sacrificing himself to protect those he hold dear, tobirama too.

I agree completely. Have you guys seen anyone else with Lee and Gai's work ethic?
Day after day,lap after lap,always striving to work harder and achieve as much as they can.Lee is one of the strongest in Konoha 11 and he can't even use ninjutsu or genjutsu!
Opening the 8 Gates is boss level*cough Gai vs Madara is epic*

While he may have a few advantages,Naruto is a hard worker. He may not work as hard as the Green Duo,but who does,really?

I dunno..sure he could mix chakra. But Sage Chakra enhances does who utilises it in all aspects , threat perception , power, ninjutsu , taijutsu and genjutsu.

He just got a new powerup for his Bijuu mode in the battle with the Jubbi's Jinchuriki , which in Manga time , did not pass a day
