I agree, Madara sux as a villain, he's basically got a guranteed instant win button in every fight he's in due to being the final/main villain. Considering not a single.character has powered up through the observation, consumption, notion, or protection of a Bull's shit, I would all the power ups characters have received are ones they obtained through various means. Some may access power more easily.... That's just how Kishi wrote it.

He took his brother's eyes after he died and gained EMS. That didn't take years of prep. He didn't want that to happen, but was desperate and going blind, so he did. Nonetheless, that's a handout.

Then, he fought w/ Hashi and lost but managed to get some of his DNA. He didn't know what would happen if he injected himself w/ it, he just did and he luckily got the Rinnegan. That didn't take years of prep, he wasn't sure of what power would form, it just took years of waiting.

He read what was on the Uchiha tablet and then acted accordingly and manipulated Obito. Then he died, he was basically winging it. Obito nearly even screwed him over, had Kabuto not brought back Madz as an Edo, he would have been done & his plan would have failed.

Madara does prep, but it is not coming only from his own intelligence. He's following instructions on a tablet. That and he's very determined/lucky. That's why he's gotten this far.

Sasuke and Naruto actually worked harder for the powerups themselves than Madara did. People just like to scrutinze the main characters more and tend to praise OP villains. It'll change once Madara loses though (which is inevitable), you'll see him lose fans and people will bash him.

Obito did most of the work leading up to Madara's grand entrance, but I think it's fair Naruto and Sasuke gain some sort of power to be near to or equal with his or there's no point to fighting him and no plot.
