Hashirama wins mid diff, he has too many jutsu to keep gai at bay. Also I find it highly unlikely anyone of Hashirama's level would allow gai to access the gates, Madara is arrogant and wanted to see the 8th Gate power he is the only exception. I just don't see the Evening Elephant destroying an entire Mokuton Forest or Flower World or Buddha Statue, not only that but Flower World is basically enough to do the job, or Bringer Of Darkness Genjutsu aligned with multiple Mokuton Bushins.

Also Gai would just have hell of a lot of jutsu to get past to get to Hashirama, and im sure Quintiple Rashomon can block Evening Elephant along with all the Mokuton constructs Hashi has. Hashirama would at least outlast Gai and win that way.

@TOAA, why would you consider Gai to deal with Hashirama's large scale techniques instead of going after Hashirama himself? One punch of Gai would compress the air to a point it would simply blow away the pollen; there is no need to destroy the entry forest. Did you miss the point of Gai kicking up the air at a speed Madara could barely keep up with, and in the end, received several blows? Gai doesn't need to destroy the statue, he appears with above lightning speed before Hashirama like he did against Madara [

He didn't do that alone though. Madara in latest chapter lacks his black balls who i think Kakashi ported away with his kamui to help Gai considering how tired he looked to be on the same panel, i think he played that role

Exactly this. He doesn't need to deal with any of his techniques, especially when not a single attack will land on 8G Gai anyway.

Gai blitzes anyone, with the only exceptions being Juubi hosts. No defence is capable of tanking Evening Elephant.
