People assume that Asura didn't fight his brother alone. They think that he had a army to help him. That wasn't the point Hagorama was trying to make. In fact what he was trying to say was that he initially needed help during the war. It was through the bonds he forged and hard work that his chakra blossomed and he gained power equalling his brothers. there fight came after the war Hagorama spoke of after he named Ashura his successor.

People keep saying ashura was week to boost sasuke but based on the hashi v. Madara fight the predecessors have little impact on the strength of the reincarnations. Maybe it will be different now cause they actually get a power up but even so the text is plain.

I was talking in general of course lets not get into who was having more help as clearly naruto never had legit solo fight.
Even kiba at chunin exams was soloed by nasty fart ashura issued to assist naruto

But as other examples, madara and obito, itachi did shit on their own.
